Critical Language Scholarship Program

CLS is a summer program that is run by the US Department of State and that provides training in in thirteen critical needs foreign languages. This institute provides a fully funded group based language and cultural enrichment program for participants. The institutes run between seven and ten weeks and provide students with the equivalent of approximately one year of academic study of a language.

Students must be enrolled at the time of the application (which means that graduating senior are eligible). The program is not limited to any specific discipline. Students may have a family background in the language or region in which they are applying.
